Faith

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

Faith is the principle thing in the Christian life. It is the spiritual eye that enlightens our mind, directs our feet, and cheers our heart. Our whole life is dependent on it. Our strength and fruitfulness is only as strong as our faith.

At the same time, there is nothing more difficult than maintaining our faith; even after the work of grace has been wrought in our heart. Therefore, nothing is more important than to pray for faith as long as we live. May God continue to increase it every day!

There is nothing stronger in the universe than faith! By faith we lay hold of our glorious God and Creator! Faith creates a bond between the believer and the Messiah so strong that nothing in the universe can separate it! Faith breaks through great obstacles, removes mountains of difficulties, overcome the world, and allows us to possess eternal life!

Straw cannot withstand the force of fire. And God becomes a wall of fire around the person of faith so that the greatest powers of our enemy will be consumed like stubble. And by faith, one day we will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under our feet. (Malachi 4:3)

May we look steadfastly to God and believe with a simple heart. How amazing and beyond understanding are His ways with His people. Our faith looks forward to that Day when all of our sorrows and strife will come to a glorious and triumphant end!

Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:8

“As small as a mustard seed” implies that you don’t need perfect faith to perform Jesus-like miracles. Why haven’t we seen anyone move mountains or something similar? Do no Christians have the faith of a mustard seed?

    • These days it may appear that Christians have no faith, and in some cases that’s true. Personally, I have witnessed many Jesus-miracles. A couple things you need to realize about that Scripture verse: 1) We must read it in context; In Matthew 17:14-20 Jesus’ disciples couldn’t drive out a demon from a boy so the boy’s father brought him to Jesus and he healed him. His disciples asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” Jesus told them because they had small faith and then told the parable of the mustard seed. 2) In the parable of the mustard seed Jesus pointed out that the mustard seed was very small and yet it grew into a great tree. It did not grow overnight. Some Christians will seem to have more faith because there is more visible fruit of it in their life. My neighbor and I both started gardens this year at the same time. We both planted corn the same way. His corn is now almost 3 feet tall but mine is barely 1 foot high. That doesn’t mean that he’s a better gardener. Eventually we will both enjoy corn from our garden. The end results will be the same. It’s the same with faith. Planting seeds expecting it to grow IS an act of faith. Keep searching my friend.
